- Supreme Court has given a four week notice to senior BJP leader L K Advani and 19 others to reply on a CBI petition challenging the 2010 Allahabad High Court order discharging them of criminal conspiracy in the case of demolition of a disputed structure in Ayodhya on December 6, 1992.
- International Cricket Council president Mustafa Kamal announced his resignation on Wednesday, accusing colleagues within the game's global body of acting "unlawfully". - BJP’s National Executive meeting has begun in Bengaluru on Thursday, party president Amit Shah presided over the party office bearers meeting. Union ministers, various state chief ministers and deputy chief ministers of the party are attending the National Executive. The three-day meeting will discuss and formulate ways to strengthen the party base in the southern states, Assam, West Bengal and Odisha. 
- Andhra Pradesh’s government on Wednesday formally decided to name its proposed capital “Amravati”, after the capital of the historical Satavahana Kingdom.
- India has successfully test-fired nuclear warhead-capable Agni-III ballistic missile. The indigenously developed surface-to-surface missile was test fired from a mobile launcher at Wheeler Island off the Odisha coast by the army. AGNI III has a strike range of more than 3,000 km.
- World Bank predicts 8 per cent GDP growth rate for India by 2017, says strong expansion in the country, coupled with favourable oil prices, will accelerate economic growth in South Asia. The World Bank has predicted a GDP growth rate of 8 per cent for India by 2017 and said that a strong expansion in the country, coupled with favourable oil prices, would accelerate the economic growth in South Asia.
- PM Narendra Modi concluded his 3 nation visit of France, Germany and Canada. He left for Frankfurt for night halt. During his Canada visit PM impressed upon major Canadian companies to invest in India. PM Called his visit the beginning of new path of partnership. The Prime Minister has described his three-day visit to Canada as historic.
- Ace Indian shuttler Saina Nehwal has regained the number one position in international rankings after China's Li Xuerui dropped a couple of rungs to third in the latest list issued on Thursday, 16th April 2015.
- United States will remove Cuba from the list of state sponsors of terrorism. The move comes amid a normalisation of relations between the US and Cuba.
- Former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has formally entered the 2016 race for the White House in a bid to become the first woman US president. She launched her campaign website on Sunday, telling Americans she wanted to be their "champion
- NASA has released a new image taken by spacecraft New Horizons which is nearing Pluto. On July 14, NASA's probe is expected to fly within 10,000 km of the dwarf planet after a nine-year journey.
- A day after e-commerce major Flipkart walked out from Airtel Zero, online travel services provider Cleartrip yesterday pulled out of Facebook and Reliance Communications promoted platform Internet.org amid raging debate over Net neutrality
- Ministry for Development of North East Region (DoNER) headed by its Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh, has received the Union Ministry of Information Technology (IT) Award for outstanding Website content. The Award titled “Web Ratna Award 2014” under the category of outstanding content was conferred here in recognition of the exemplary efforts made by the DoNER Ministry for promoting e-governance initiatives.

- Spectacular bursts of volcanic lightning and lava lit up the night sky in southern Chile as the Calbuco volcano erupted twice after half a century of inactivity, forcing some 5,000 people to evacuate. Officials declared a state of emergency and evacuated people from a 21-kilometer radius around the volcano, which last erupted in 1961.
- The gates of the ancient Kedarnath shrine were thrown open for devotees amid elaborate rituals early Friday morning. "Chief priest of the shrine (Rawal) presided over the opening of the doors of temple and its sanctum sanatorium at 4.50 am in presence of Rudraprayag district officials and temple trust officials," President of Kedarnath-Badrinath Temple Trust, Ganesh Gadiyal said on Friday.
- Government has finally recognised motor sports as a sport by including governing body FMSCI in the list of sports ministry-backed National Sports Federations (NSF). The development comes at a rather quiet period for Indian motorsports and at a time when efforts are being made to bring Formula 1 back to the country after the Grand Prix was dropped owing to tax and bureaucratic hurdles. The ministry has included motor sports in its latest revision of sports disciplines, albeit in the 'Others' category, meaning no financial assistance will be provided to the Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India (FMSCI).
- Army Launches Operation Maitri. As part of the Nation’s overall relief effort for Nepal, IA has launched Operation Maitri. Soon after the devastating earthquake, Gen Dalbir Singh, COAS, who besides himself being an officer of the Gurkha Rifles Regiment is also the Honorary Chief of the Nepalese Army, spoke to his counterpart, General SJB Rana, Chief of the Nepalese Army.
