Telangana becomes first State to make gender education compulsory at graduate level

Telangana has become the first State in the country to introduce compulsory gender education at the graduate level. In this regard, state government has introduced bilingual textbook titled ‘Towards a World of Equals’ on a pilot basis in engineering colleges. These engineering colleges are affiliated to the Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU-Hyderabad). 
  • It Discusses gender in its composite form without limiting itself to crime against women without repeating gender stereotypes. 
  • Touches upon complex subjects like male-female relationships and female-centric history. 
  • It has been structured into simple language to suit under-graduates.
  •  Discusses different strands of women’s movements across the world along with political movements of Afro-American, African, Caribbean, minority and Dalit women.
