Born on July 19, 1948 in Kolkata, Justice Kabir completed his LLB and MA from the University of Calcutta. He started his legal career in 1973 when he enrolled as an advocate. He was appointed the 39th Chief Justice of India on September 29, 2012. He retired on July 18, 2013 after a brief tenure of around nine months.
