Pune, Rajkot to replace Chennai and Rajasthan in IPL 2016, 2017

New teams from the cities of Pune and Rajkot will feature in the Indian Premier League 2016 and 2017. These teams will replace Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals, which were suspended by the RM Lodha Committee, appointed by the Supreme Court to investigate the 2013 IPL corruption scandal. The new franchises will be owning the team for two years.
In fresh bids in New Delhi on Tuesday, the Board of Control for Cricket in India announced that New Rising for Pune and Intex for Rajkot will be the new franchises in the lucrative Twenty20 championship. The ninth editon of the IPL will begin in 2016. Rajeev Shukla, IPL chairman, gave the details.
