PM Modi lays foundation stone of AIIMS, Gorakhpur

PM Modi lays foundation stone of AIIMS, Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh. After laying foundation stone for an aiims and reviving the defunct fertilizer unit in the eastern district of Uttar Pradesh, he reminded people that only mantra that will work for them is the development mantra. Speaking at a rally in Gorakhpur after inaugurating projects related to fertilizers and health, he reminded the people of the need to now move away form family or caste politics and the need to embrace development as the only quotient for choosing governments.  Talking of AIIMS , PM Modi launched a scathing attack on the state government. he rued that fact that although centre had allocated 7000 crores for health services, lax implementation from state govt has resulted in utilization of just 2850 crores.
Prime Minister also promised funds for energizing the tourism sector in the area by laying special emphasis on roads in the Budha circuit.  The combination of a gas connectivity with a promise of quality medical care surely made it a special visit by the PM and a special day for people of not only gorakhpur but also the entire eastern Uttar Pradesh. Earlier addressing the people in Gorakhpur after unveiling the statue of Mahant Avaidyanath, Prime Minister Narendra Modi recalled the contribution of Mahant in arousing social consciousness. Prime Minister said that our saints and seers, have been very noble and have always been compassionate towards society and the poor.

Harish Rawat back as Uttarakhand CM

Cabinet has recommended revocation of President's rule in Uttarakhand.  The decision was taken after the Supreme Court declared the result of the Trust vote in the Uttarkhand assembly, paving the way for Harish Rawat to return as Chief Minister of the state.  Now as per procedure, the cabinet recommendation will go to the President.
The Harish Rawat-led Congress government is all set to resume power in Uttarakhand with the Supreme Court allowing the central government to revoke President's Rule, in view of Harish Rawat's success in proving the majority in the floor test.  A bench led by Justice Dipak Misra accepted Attorney General Mukul Rohatgi's submission that the central government would revoke the President's Rule on Wednesday, to enable Rawat to resume charge as Chief Minister.  The court also declared the result of the floor test that was conducted on Tuesday under supervision of the court-appointed observers in which Rawat secured 33 votes in his favor and 28 against Rawat's counsel Abhishek Manu Singhvi and Kapil Sibal appreciated the government's stand. Congress leader Harish Rawat has said that the state government would take full help from the Centre to fulfill the aspirations of Uttarakhand.

Uttarakhand High Court Abolishes President's Rule in State

Uttarakhand high court ruled President's Rule was wrongly declared and granted a petition filed by former Chief Minister Harish Rawat, restoring him to power and ordering a floor test set for April 29. In keeping with the pattern of the last few hearings, the judges were fierce today in their criticism of the Centre, underscoring that President's Rule "should be used as a matter of last resort," and that the removal of "a democratically elected government breeds cynicism in the heart of citizens".
In a major embarrassment for the Centre, the Uttarakhand High Court has set aside President's rule in the state. While ruling against the imposition of President's rule, the court said that proclamation imposing Article 356 dated March 27 stands quashed and status quo as on the date of the proclamation will be restored. The floor test in Uttarakhand Assembly will take place on April 29, ruled the High Court. Congress has 36 MLAs including nine rebels in the 71-member Assembly. But the nine Congress MLAs have been barred from taking part in the trust vote.

Asia's biggest telescope

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Belgian counterpart Charles Michel launched Asia's biggest telescope, the Aryabhatta Research Institute of Observational Sciences or ARIES built with Belgian assistance at Nainital remotely from Brussels.
Referring to the cooperation between the two countries on various projects, the PM said even sky is not the limit. He also congratulated the scientists of both the countries for the successful inauguration of the telescope.

President's rule imposed in Uttarakhand

President's rule has been imposed in Uttarakhand and state Assembly has been kept in suspended animation.  The recommendation for central rule was made by the Union Cabinet at its emergency meeting last night, chaired by PM Narendra Modi.  Earlier, Harish Rawat led Uttarakhand government has been asked to prove its majority by March 28, after nine rebel MLAs of the Congress sided with the Opposition BJP to destabilise the government.
Assembly speaker Govind Singh Kunjwal, has also disqualified nine rebel Congress MLA's from the House.Expressing satisfaction, Uttrakhand BJP in charge, Shyam Jaju said that the state has been witnessing misrule, corruption, murder of democracy.  He added that in order to prevent all these, party made a plea to governor to impose president's rule. BJP Leader Kailash Vijayvargiya has welcomed the decision of president's rule being imposed in Uttarakhand asserting that it decision has been taken to save democracy.

Amritsar - Delhi - Kolkata Industrial Corridor Route Map

Amritsar - Delhi - Kolkata Industrial Corridor Route Map, Cities:  In order to give a boost to industrial development in the densely populated states of Northern India, the Prime Minister has approved the commencement of preparatory work on creating an Amritsar - Delhi - Kolkata Industrial Corridor. The Amritsar - Kolkata Industrial Corridor is patterned on the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC). The DMIC uses the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor as the backbone and is one of the most significant developments taking place in the sphere of industrialization. The DMIC has financial support from the Japanese Government and is expected to attract large investments leading to rapid industrial growth in Rajasthan, Gujarat, Haryana and Maharashtra through the development of new cities, industrial zones, and world-class infrastructure.
In a similar manner, the Amritsar - Delhi - Kolkata Industrial Corridor will use the Eastern dedicated Freight Corridor as the backbone. The Eastern DFC extends from Ludhiana in Punjab to Dankuni near Kolkata. Therefore, the Amritsar - Delhi - Kolkata Industrial Corridor will be structured around the Eastern DFC and also the Highway system that exists on this route. It will also leverage the Inland Waterway System being developed along National Waterway - 1 which extends from Allahabad to Haldia.
The Amritsar - Delhi - Kolkata Industrial Corridor  will cover the states of  Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal. This is one of the most densely populated regions in the world and houses about 40% of India's population.  This is a region which needs a major push for industrialization and job-creation and the Amritsar - Delhi - Kolkata Industrial Corridor will act as a catalyst for this growth. The corridor will cover the cities of Amritsar, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Ambala, Saharanpur, Delhi, Roorkee, Moradabad, Bareilly, Aligarh, Kanpur, Lucknow, Allahabad, Varanasi, Patna, Hazaribagh,  Dhanbad, Asansol, Durgapur and Kolkata.
