India and Germany sign 18 MoUs

India and Germany sign 18 MoUs and documents for cooperation in fields including skill development, higher education, civil aviation, railways and food safety; PM Narendra Modi says German strengths and India's priorities are aligned. German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday held talks on stepping up bilateral cooperation in a range of key areas with a special emphasis on ramping up trade and investment when global slowdown is emerging as a major concern. India and Germany on Monday agreed to enhance ties in key areas of defence manufacturing, trade, intelligence and clean energy during wide-ranging talks between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and German Chancellor Angela Merkel. Describing the talks as "very good", both the leaders expressed hope that their discussions will pave the way for more robust partnership between the two countries in strategic areas. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also thanked German Chancellor for supporting UNSC reforms and India's bid for permanent membership in UNSC.

  • Cooperation in the Field of Railways.
  • Setting up a Fast-Track system for German companies in India.
