Sushma Swaraj addresses 71st session of UN General Assembly

External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj addressed the 71st session of United Nations General Assembly. Targeting Pakistan, she said that every country which sponsor terror and do not act against terrorism should be isolated globally. Responding to Pak PM Nawaz Sharif speech on human rights violation in Kashmir, Sushma Swaraj said that Pakistan should first take care of Balochistan. She also challenged Pakistan on Kashmir issue and said that Jammu & Kashmir is an integral part of India and always will be. And India is not alone in the demand to declare Pakistan a terrorist state. The Indian-American community in the US has launched a White House petition to designate the country as a state sponsor of terrorism. 
Sushma Swaraj attacked Pakistan, saying in her speech at the United Nations General Assembly that Jammu and Kashmir is an inalienable part of the country and nobody can snatch it away. Swaraj, in a retort to Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s speech last week where he harped on Kashmir, said: “Kashmir is an integral part of India and it will remain an integral part of India. No one can take it away by force.”

ISRO's PSLV-C35 places SCATSAT-1 into Orbit

Indian Space Research Organisation successfully put into orbit its own weather satellite SCATSAT-1 this morning at 9.12am.  In the second phase of its mission, the rocket launched seven other satellites - five foreign and two Indian - between 11.25 to 11.28 am, in a different orbit.  This was the first mission of PSLV in which it launched its payloads into two different orbits. 
The co-passenger satellites were from the US, Canada and Algeria besides from Indian Universities. ISRO's SCATSAT-1 can generate accurate data on wind patterns over the ocean surface.  It is a continuity mission for the Oceansat-2, which has exhausted its operational life. The expected lifespan of SCATSAT-1 is expected to be five years.

Arun Goyal appointed Additional Secretary GST Council

Senior IAS officer Arun Goyal has been appointed as Additional Secretary in the Goods and Services Tax (GST) Council. The Council, headed by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, is mandated to decide on tax rate, exempted goods and the threshold limit. 
The Appointments Committee of Cabinet has approved Goyal’s appointment against the newly created post, an order issued by Department of Personnel and Training said. Goyal, a 1985 batch IAS officer of Union Territory cadre, is at present working as Additional Secretary, Project Monitoring Group, Cabinet Secretariat.

Allo is Google’s new messaging app to compete WhatsApp. Google on 21st Sept 2016 emerged in the mobile messaging market with new AI powered messaging app called Allo. App’s reliance on predictive software created a warning that it could open up user data to law enforcement. Allo’s key differentiator from most other messaging apps is that it’s backed by artificial intelligence. This enables it to offer features that are largely dependent on context and usage history. One such feature is Smart Reply, which suggests relevant responses that you can choose from to respond quickly to messages, like a simple “yes” in answer to “Are you on your way?”. App adjusts to user’s style as an emoji or written response and has tools for customising chat messages including changing emoji size and sticker choice. Alongside the end-to-end-encrypted Incognito Mode, the Allo team talked about bold new message retention practices, storing messages only transiently rather than indefinitely. Users can also avoid the logging by using Allo’s Incognito Mode, which is still fully end-to-end encrypted and unchanged from the initial announcement.
