Devendra Fadnavis was on Friday sworn in as Chief Minister of the first BJP govt in
Maharashtra at
a grand ceremony. 44-year-old Fadnavis, a fourth time MLA and the
second Brahmin to occupy the top post in the state, was administered the
oath of office and secrecy by Governor C Vidyasagar Rao at the Wankhede
Stadium in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP President
Amit Shah, several Union ministers and veterans L K Advani and MM Joshi
among others.

India re-elected to UN Economic and Social Council.
India has overwhelmingly won its re-election to the UN body on economic
and social issues, garnering the highest number of votes in the
Asia-Pacific group. The 193-member UN General Assembly elected 18
members of the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) to serve a
three-year term beginning January 1, 2015.
- Petrol price
was on Friday cut by Rs 2.41 a litre, the sixth reduction since August,
and diesel by Rs 2.25 per litre on back of falling international oil
rates.
