Gully Boy is India's official entry for Oscars 2020

Zoya Akhtar's Gully Boy is India's official entry for the 92nd Oscars. Zoya's filmmaker brother Farhan Akhtar announced the big news on social media on Saturday. "Gully Boyhas been selected as India's official entry to the 92nd Oscar Awards", he tweeted. 
The film features Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt in the lead roles. The film showcases the story of an aspiring rapper named Murad ( Ranveer Singh), who dreams of making it big in the Inidan music industry. Alia Bhatt plays his love interest in the film. The film also features Kalki Koechlin, Siddhant Chaturvedi, Vijay Raaz and Vijay Varma in pivotal roles. The film is inspired by the lives and work of rappers Naezy and Divine.

Pralhad Joshi confers the National Geosciences Awards 2018

National Geoscience Awards for the year 2018 for outstanding contributions in the field of geosciences, mining and allied areas were presented to twenty-two scientists from across the country. The Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, Coal and Mines, Shri Pralhad Joshi, while conferring the awards said that the need of the hour is to strengthen the synergy between the professional and academic institutions working in field of geoscience.
The National Geoscience Awards were given in ten disciplines covering Mineral exploration, Groundwater exploration, Mining technology, Mineral beneficiation, Sustainable mineral development, Basic and applied geosciences, Geo-environmental studies and Natural hazardsz investigation.  Prof. Syed Wajih Ahmad Naqvi, Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), received the Award for Excellence for his significant global contributions in the field of aquatic biogeochemical research. Dr. Sohini Ganguly, of Goa University was conferred with the Young Scientist Award-2018 for her significant work in the fields of petrology, volcanology and geochemistry.

Rajnath Singh becomes first Raksha Mantri to fly ‘LCA Tejas’

Shri Rajnath Singh has scripted history by becoming the first Raksha Mantri to fly the Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) ‘Tejas’. Shri Rajnath Singh undertook 30-minute sortie in the indigenously-built multi-role fighter aircraft with Air Vice Marshall Narmdeshwar Tiwari, at the Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) Airport in Bengaluru this morning.
Raksha Mantri described his experience of flying the fourth-generation aircraft as ’thrilling and special’. Congratulating HAL, Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA) for building the multi-role fighter aircraft, Shri Rajnath Singh said demand has been received for ‘Tejas’ from different countries. He expressed pride that India has reached a stage where fighter aircraft and arms & ammunition can be exported to the world.
Raksha Mantri also praised the Indian Air Force as well as Army & Navy for their professionalism, courage and bravery. “I am proud of the soldiers of our Armed Forces”, he said. Tejas is a multi-role fighter with several critical capabilities. It is meant to strengthen India’s air defence capabilities.
